Reading 10
How our reading has improved
An import has two halves. One measures your repository, on your machine. The other is ours: we read that census and turn it into contracts, roles and recipes. This is every step the second half has taken - each one is a thing we started seeing, and every one of them changes what the same census produces.
That is why your system can be brought forward without touching your code again. If yours is behind, the offer appears in your Fixes screen with what it would add - and it only ever adds.

Your own name for each role, on every screen
The reading now records what YOUR code calls each of our roles - if your CSS says `--color-brand`, the screen stops saying `primary` and says `brand`. Systems imported before this get the names filled in from the census we already hold.

Roles named on a stepped ramp are finally found
Matching a role to your code required the word at the END of the token: `--color-primary` matched, `--color-primary-500` did not. A stepped ramp is the normal shape of a design system, so status roles were never derived from anybody's code - they kept the seed's value forever.
On the live repository: 7 roles out of 33 grounded in families it does not declare, with `success` painting #10b981 from our palette while the code said --color-success-500: #00a389.

The foundation half, not just the missing component
Re-interpretation began writing the ENTRY your census declares and your document lacks - a colour role, an animation frame - instead of only the components that were missing.

One name, one contract
Three `header`s and two `skeleton-loader`s from one real import collapsed into a single contract each, instead of fighting over the same name.

Identical layers stop being written twice
A layer that says exactly what another one already says is dropped, so a recipe stops carrying the same rule under two names.
Reading 10 is the current one. A system imported under an older number keeps producing what that number could see, until it is brought forward - nothing on your machine has to change for that, because the census is already here. The rest of the docs →
